2. Sprung pruning the roses
f/5.6, 1/800, ISO-3200 (focal length 343mm taken with 100-500mm lens)
This big buck has been visiting my & neighbour’s yards on & off in recent weeks. He looked surprised when I spotted him nibbling the rose & other bushes in the front garden. The early morning light was conveniently catching his face perfectly. I’ve had fun with my long lens snapping this guy.

5. Hiding kitty
Leia was playing with the sprinkler but of course stopped when I got my camera.
Played with angles and got wet and a green ant bite in getting this shot.

My original idea for “My Backyard” involved sunflowers and old farming equipment, but the family cat Steven had other plans. Every time I set up the shot, he would appear in the frame or at my feet demanding attention. Eventually, I gave up trying to keep him out of the photo — and realized he was the real story all along.
I have run the photo through lightroom, adjusted saturation and removed a couple of dirt spots but otherwise the photo is as shot. Happy to have feedback of what I could change in lightroom or what I could have changed to improve the photo.

12. Cocoon
Amazing surprise when I saw this in a tree in a pot near the front door some time ago. I watched it change over the weeks.
